License Update – System Center Data Protection Manager 2010

Sys Center Data Protection Manager 2010 is no longer available as a standalone product.

From the April 2010 PUR:

For System Center Data Protection Manager 2010

You may use System Center Data Protection Manager 2010 only if you acquire one or more of the following:

  • qualifying licenses for System Center Server Management Suite Standard
  • qualifying licenses for the System Center Server Management Suite Enterprise
  • qualifying licenses for the System Center Server Management Suite Datacenter
  • qualifying licenses for the System Center Client Management Suite
  • System Center Data Protection Manager 2010 Standard server management licenses
  • System Center Data Protection Manager 2010 Enterprise server management licenses
  • System Center Data Protection Manager 2010 client management licenses

You will be deemed to have acquired one System Center Data Protection Manager 2010 software license if you acquire any of the licenses listed above.

Qualifying System Center Server Management Suite Standard, System Center Server Management Suite Enterprise, System Center Server Management Suite Datacenter, and System Center Client Management Suite licenses are licenses acquired on or after June 1, 2009 or with active Software Assurance coverage on or after that date.

So instead of buying SCDPM server licenses, the right to use the server software is now granted to customers who have SCDPM management Licenses.
The June 2010 Product List seems not to mention a license grant for customers who have active SA on SCDPM 2007 Server License.
